MATC Breaks Ground For New Campus At Thanksgiving Point

Finally, after many long and arduous negotiations, the plans are in place the budget is set and dirt is flying at Thanksgiving Point for the new campus of the Mountainlands Applied Technology College. It has been a while coming but is welcome in Utah County, a new northern county campus for MATC.

A large and prestigious crowd attended and listened to Utah County legislators Representative Steve Clark, Senator Margaret Dayton and Senator John Valentine recite how long this has been in the works and how important it is to Utah County students and employers. Governor Gary Herbert keynoted the event with his view of the future not only for MATC but also for the Utah College of Applied Technology now that they have the freedom from the Board of Regents to move forward in a very big way in providing technically-trained employees for Utah’s employers.

UMA President Tom Bingham attended as a representative of manufacturers in Utah and as the chairman of the UCAT Board of Trustees. “This is a great day for career and technical training in Utah and especially for the residents of Utah County and the many students and employers served by MATC,” he said of the event.

There are eight applied technology colleges across Utah serving employers with specialized training to fill their employee needs.
