NAM Board Engages With Key Policymakers

October 9, 2009

Recognizing the importance of manufacturing to our nation, an impressive array of policymakers made their way to the NAM Board of Directors meeting October 7-8 in Washington, D.C. More than 100 Board members from small, mid-size and large manufacturing companies across the nation heard from Administration officials and members of Congress who are intimately involved with the pending health care, energy, trade, labor, budget and tax debates, including: Treasury Sec. Timothy Geithner, Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, White House Senior Counselor for Manufacturing Policy Ron Bloom, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair James Oberstar (D-MN) and House Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan (R-WI). NAM Board members urged policymakers to aggressively pursue a growth strategy and to avoid policies that make it more difficult to compete, such as the Employee Free Choice Act.
