EPA GREENHOUSE GASES FINDINGS TO WHITE HOUSE

November 10, 2009

EPA reported Monday that they have delivered the agency’s final scientific finding on greenhouse gases to the White House. This is considered by many to be a step toward triggering regulation of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as pollutants under the Clean Air Act.

Keith McCoy, vice president for energy and resources policy at the NAM, said "UMA members are worried that the Obama administration will put in place rules on greenhouse gases before Congress has a chance to pass climate legislation. NAM argues that Congress should take the lead on an issue that has such a huge impact on manufacturers and the potential costs of manufacturing.

Environmentalists have embraced the move as a sign that the Obama administration is moving ahead on global warming policy before the U.N.-sponsored climate talks in Copenhagen next month.
