Utah Ranks 2ND In State Health Rankings

Utah was listed as the second healthiest state in the nation in America’s Health Rankings 2009, compiled by UnitedHealth Foundation. Utah’s previous ranking was fifth.

Strengths identified in the study include the state’s low prevalence of smoking, low prevalence of binge drinking, low percentage of children in poverty and low infant mortality rate. Challenges include the limited availability of primary care physicians and high geographic disparity within the state.
