GOVERNOR’S ECONOMIC SUMMIT DRAWS RECORD CROWD
March 31, 2010 – UMA

The Third Annual Governor’s Economic Summit attracted a record crowd to the Grand America Hotel is Salt Lake City on Monday. Keynote speakers and breakout session presenters focused on the current state of Utah’s economy and had positive things to say about the future of Utah in the coming year. Governor Herbert reported that he believe the economy is coming back but slowly. He said Utah is still poised to be the best state in the nation to recover from the recession.

One note of caution was voiced by the opening speaker former Wells Fargo Economist, now retired, Kelly Mathews who warned that while there are some tail winds pushing the economy along toward recovery there are some serious headwinds holding it back, like the national debt, taxes and overregulation.

Overall the Governor’s summit was very positive and very informative. Kudos to the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and a host of generous sponsors. Well done.
