UMA Board To Meet With Governor Herbert

Posted by Thomas E. Bingham, President, Utah Manufacturers Association (9-3-09)

A long-awaited meeting between Utah’s new Governor Gary Herbert and the Utah Manufacturers Association Board of Directors is now scheduled for September 15. Plans have been in the works for this meeting to congratulate Governor Herbert and to visit with him about his vision for manufacturing in Utah and to reinforce with him the importance of the manufacturing sector to the Utah economy.

“Due to his doing two jobs for most of the summer, we agreed to wait until after the inauguration to hold this meeting with Governor Herbert,” said UMA President Tom Bingham. He has been very gracious in providing us a chance to meet with him and introduce the UMA board to him and have a frank discussion about his impending administration. He understands, but we will remind him that manufacturing is a key driver of the Utah economy.”

Herbert has said he will not raise taxes. We will no doubt discuss that pledge in our meeting with him on the 15th.
