Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on November 5 approved the Kerry-Boxer climate change bill, S. 1733, by a vote of 10-1. Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) cast the lone vote of opposition; Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) was not present for the vote. Committee Republicans, led by Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK), boycotted the markup and other Committee events this week after calls for a full EPA economic analysis specific to S. 1733 were unanswered. Five other committees that share jurisdiction over the legislation have yet to give their approval to the bill. Details: Keith McCoy, (NAM)
