SENATE HEARING NEXT WEEK ON DUBIOUSLY-NAMED HEALTHY FAMILIES ACT

November 5, 2009

In light of growing concerns over the H1N1 flu outbreak, a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions subcommittee is expected to conduct a hearing November 10 on S. 1152, the Healthy Families Act (HFA). The legislation would impose a government mandate on employers with 15 or more employees to institute a “one-size-fits-all” paid sick leave package for all employees. The HFA's flawed approach would limit the ability of employers to continue to provide the types of benefits that best fit their workforce. Click here to view the NAM's one-pager on the HFA.
