Floor Action Likely Next Week On Derivatives

December 4, 2009

The House is planning to consider financial regulatory “relief” legislation next week. Part of the debate and legislation will focus on the treatment of customized, over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives – a key concern for many manufacturers. While many of the members of the two House Committees (Agriculture, Financial Services) are supportive of the need for end-users to have access to customized OTC derivatives to manage risk, legislators outside of these Committees are not.

The NAM will be closely following next week's debate and working to ensure that business end-users continue to have access to reasonably priced OTC derivative products. Details: Dorothy Coleman, (202) 637-3077.
