INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY COMPANY TO OFFER AID FOR HAITI'S REDEVELOPMENT
(Salt Lake City, UT) - As Haiti begins its transition from a rescue effort to one of recovery, Industrial Supply Company, a local Utah business, is coordinating a regional collection of supplies that will be used in the island country's re-development.
The national effort headed by Industrial Supply Association (ISA) has gathered its industry's support to provide supplies for Haiti's redevelopment. The ISA is organizing the industry-wide collection of supplies that will be needed for the rebuilding process. Everything used for rebuilding, including industrial supplies, fasteners, electrical equipment, hammers, shovels, machine equipment and safety related items, will be collected and shipped to the country for use in its redevelopment.
Industrial Supply is donating thousands of dollars of rebuilding and redevelopment supplies of its inventory toward this effort, and encouraging businesses with similar offerings to drop off inventory donations to Industrial Supply's Headquarters in Salt Lake City Utah, no later than Friday, Thursday February 11, 2010. Monetary donations can be sent directly to the ISA Relief Effort, 100 N. 20th Street 4th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
"Industry trade associations are the strongest and largest networks that exist in the industry, and we feel this is the quickest way to raise the greatest amount of goods that will be needed in the rebuilding of Haiti," said Jessica Polychronis, Vice President of Procurement at Industrial Supply. "We are gratified at the response we have received already within our industry, and hope to combine our efforts with those of others who are helping.
"With expertise in providing supply chain solutions to business, Industrial Supply will provide the local pipeline to deliver the rebuilding supplies to a central staging point for shipment to Haiti. The staging point, established by the ISA, will allow several groups, such as the Red Cross, the United Nations and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that have experience working in Haiti, to ship and distribute the industry's contributions.
Industrial Supply hopes to gather enough rebuilding supplies and inventory to send the first truck to the central staging point in New Jersey by Friday, February 12, 2010. From there, ISA will coordinate shipment of these supplies -- along with donations collected by other relief organizations -- into Haiti. If the collection of redevelopment supplies goes well, Industrial Supply hopes to send additional trucks to the central staging point in the coming months.
